Reviews:
In poetry and song, Theater Alliance’s ‘Chorus Within Her’ centers women
The performance is both a container for this period’s pain and loss and a meditation on what persists and resists.

This is a beautiful and precious experience of the sacred and the profane, the absurd and the flat-out real, the mundane and the momentous that informs the decision we make, the paths we reject, and the way we present to the world. This is theatre for all of us.
Óyeme, the beautiful by Miriam Gonzalez
Imagination Stage, Tour
Laura and Valentina are teenagers just trying to make it through another day in middle school. However, unlike many of their peers, they are refugees from Central America who have left their home countries to find shelter and pursue their dreams in the United States. Step inside their shoes, hear their stories, see their struggle, and feel their strength as we move through their day. Óyeme, the Beautiful brings to light the undaunted courage and beautiful spirit that fuels these young people, and teaches us the power of friendship, family, and hope.

HOMEGROWN, a collaborative performance project, brings local legends of DC’s spoken word scene together with Ward 7 and Ward 8 residents, through an innovative partnership between THEARC Theater, Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company, and Spit Dat, DC’s longest-running open mic.
Weaving together poetry, storytelling, hip hop, and verse, HOMEGROWN is an original performance piece that celebrates local spoken word artists and the resilience of DC, its people, and our communities.
